Carter Edstrom: Monkeyjam is the only worthwhile free animation tool for the PC that I know of. The program was put together by an animator and was intended for 2D pencil testing, but recent features have incorporated features that are useful to stop motion animators. It doesn't have onion skinning, but it's a feature that will be implemented soon.http://www.giantscreamingrobotmonkeys.com/monkeyja...You can also check out this website for other stop motion animation programs. There are other free PC stop motion programs on the list which may have onion skinning, but I haven't used them so I couldn't tell you if the rest of their features were any good or not.http://www.stopmotionworks.com/stopmosoftwr.htmFor any specific questions, you should check out http://www.stopmotionanimation.comIt's a message board filled with stop motion animators helping eachother out. They even have a handbook section that has basic answers and info on a variety of stop motion topics (armatures! , sets, cameras, etc)http://www.stopmotionanimation.com/handbook/Here are some online resources about the basic principles of animation. These principles can and should be applied to any genre or medium you choose to work in, whether that be drawn, CGI, or stop motion animation.http://www.idleworm.com/how/index.shtmlhttp://www.awn.com/tooninstitute/lessonplan/lesson...http://www.animationarena.com/principles-of-animat...http://www.animationmeat.com/notes/notes.htmlIf you need more help or info, let me know....Show more
