What is your favorite two player board game?

Oscar Waddups: You could study the cards yourself, compare them with the statistics and deduce new cards for yourself. Alternatively, you could check out this web site and compare the games and see which football best suits your needs: http://www.tabletop-sports.com/modules.php?op=modl...The problem is the nature of football doesn't really lend itself to analysis of indivual statistics as baseball does. Please let me know if this works for you....Show more

Byron Fortmann: Blokus! It's easy to learn and has won over 15 awards including one from Mensa

Shane Getler: They're different. Chess is much more complex.

Olin Hallin: A long time ago I bough a baseball simulation game from a company called Sherco, and it did all right. The great thing about it is it gave you the formula to make your teams based on a player's stats for that year. So if you wanted to pit the '27 Yanks against the '99 Yanks, you wouldn't have to buy two years of players just for that on! e opportunity to pit those teams together. But now I want to try it in football, as I am losing interest in baseball. Anybody have a game that I don't have to mortgage a house to get a couple teams I want to play each other? And not electronically, from EA Sports, etc, I am looking board game, with dice. Pretty geeky, I know, but it's the era I am from....Show more

Bettye Arre: WOW checkers if stupider and there are so many different ways to play checkers that it is anoying

Jayson Brod: Checkers Chess Backgammon Parcheesi Sorry Yahtzee Clue Trivial Pursuit Battleship Life Connect 4 Scrabble Othello Jenga

Jerald Florence: Scrabble is my favorite, but check out the ancient game of Mancala. The play is much faster than with Scrabble, and the game is neat, and very addictive.

Anibal Katayama: Or are they different and how do they differ?

Frank Crummell: Absolutely not. They only use the same boards. They also both use the term 'king', but in che! ckers the king is the most powerful piece whereas in chess the! king is to be protected (the queen is the most powerful). Checkers is much simpler as all the pieces have only one method of attack. Chess involves many different pieces, each with their own limitations as to how many spaces they can move, in which directions, how far they can go and how they can attack.

Christiane Cattano: chess and checkers

Scot Rotruck: chess if i'm enjoying against a dumb individual, checkers for relaxing. edit: that rock lee guy would desire to get superb answer for the quantity of theory and length published in his question. you would be able to desire to not have paid me sufficient to try this

Jackson Esmiol: in checkers, all you do is jump diagonally... pretty much the easiest board game ever....chess, on the other hand, has lots of rules and every piece moves differently. so to answer with a word,no.

Tamatha Neubaum: scrabble & chess

Teodoro Lamond: Yes. They just are called different things to confuse people. I! don't know why they try to confuse people though. Maybe you could spend countless hours looking through Wikipedia to find the answer to this mysterious question.

Sunshine Holets: no they are not the same

Billie Bratchett: Chess and Scrabble are my two favorites!

Hye Caulley: Chess

Kaley Lappas: 'the game of life' maybe???

Sammie Bocanegra: Traditional Favorites-Backgammon, Chess, Checkers, Go, Mancala,Modern Games, some of my favorites:1) Lost Cities -- A card game, but not with a standard deck of cards. Players are explorers who have to make tough decisions as to whether to explore one of five expedition sites. If you decide to explore an area, you lay down cards in that expedition site, but beware -- you can only lay cards down in ascending order, and if your expedition doesn't reach at least 20 points, you will lose points in that expedition. Though the game is very simple, it is a lot of fun for two. BTW, anecdotal evidence says wives/girl! friends love this game. Rio Grande Games.2) Hive -- An abstracted game ! about bugs. Each player has a group of 11 bugs on hexagonal blocks -- 3 ants, 2 spiders, 3 grasshoppers, 2 beetles and 1 queen. The object of the game is to surround your opponent's queen, on all six sides. Each of the bug types have a specialized form of movement. It's a tense but enjoyable quick game for two.Check out http://www.hivemania.com/ for a computerized demonstration.3) Zertz -- an abstract game for two. The board is made up of black and white rings with 3 red rings mixed in. On a players turn, that player moves a ring or a stack he or she "controls" (a player controls a stack by having the topmost ring be of his or her color) The trick to movement is that a single ring moves one space, but a stack moves spaces equal to the number of rings in the stack. The key to the game is that the stacks and the rings on the board have to stay in connection with the red rings -- if you can't show a line of rings that connect back to a red ring, all the rings not connected are! removed from the board. The winner is the player who controls the most rings in stacks at the end of the game. These are just three of my favorite board games for two player. There are hundreds more great games that you have likely never heard of over at http://www.boardgamegeek.comHere are a whole bunch of lists about games that are great for two players:http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/24102http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/23861http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/23454http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/23371http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/23411http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/18610http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/20982http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/21665Just remember -- 1700+ new board games are made every year that aren't Monopoly, Scrabble, Sorry, or Uno....Show more

Rufus Plough: Its called Super Secret. You have to complete games and activities. The more you complete, the older you grow. It can be found at www.supersecret.com.

Frederick Mccoach: No, but there are similarities. They are both board games. The strongest opening move is always toward the center of the board. Both games have a "king"

Newton Fedorko: While they are not the same game one should caution in saying that one is more difficult then the other. Chess! is similar to two platoons facing battle where as, checkers is similar to 2 squads facing one another in battle. They both require complex stratgey involving mock battle. Just for fun an older name of checkers is draught

Ileen Oshell: I used to play it but I forgot the site name. And I really want to continue it. Its this game where you start at 12 years old then you get experience to turn 13 and so on. Please help! Thanks :)
