Rebbecca Sorkin: In my graphic design studies, web design is a part of the learning process. Most employees will be looking for designers who have knowledge on HTML and CSS so it is important to try & learn both graphic & web if they arent both already being taught together.
Maria Devenney: Graphic design is not the same as web design. It has things in common, but it's NOT the same thing.Web design has a lot of additional factors beyond just the visual look of something. It also incorporates functionality and usablility. Graphic design covers neither of those topics. So basically, while having some graphic design background is great if you want to get into web design, having ONLY a graphic design background does not qualify you to do web design....Show more
Boyce Gilhooly: Lol That's crazy. You do need the design skills of graphic design but the two are completely different that need completely different classes to learn. Web design is the making of websites! . People often think that to make a website, you just place a few pictures here & there & add text in places etc... But a website is entirely created by codes, you will have to learn how to understand & type these codes both manually and using the Dreamweaver software. It is very technical to make a website. But these days, graphic design employees look for designers who have an understanding of web design so they are related but they aren't the same. Graphic design is more designing artwork for companies/ events/ brands etc. like business cards, posters, logos, CD & DVD cover artwork, package design, magazines, flyers etc. So hopefully you can see they are two entire different fields of the design industry, but in some graphic design courses like the one I attend you will learn both web & graphic for a better chance of landing an awesome graphic design job....Show more
