Isreal Kochheiser: Holt is right to a point, assuming he's talking about primary education. As a young person moves into college, a broad knowledge base serves them well. But, such an education also serves a person well throughout their lives. One may become a scientist or engineer, but without some exposure to history, literature, geography, and the like, they couldn't relate to culture or even current events.
